The Shankin cottage is run by a board of directors as a limited liability company, PAB 49 LLC. Each board member is the head of a family corresponding to each of the five children of Bill and Agnes Shankin.

​The current board members representing each of the five families are:
  • Denise Shankin
  • Jerry Shankin
  • Joe Martin
  • Linda Shepard
  • Sue Hyatt
Jim Shankin is the president and Celia Cunningham manages finances.
All cottage owners follow the rules and regulations of Pointe Aux Barques Inc, a separate entity run by a board of directors and several committees.
Did you know? In 1665 the French priest, Claude Allouez, named the area Pointe aux Barques, "point of boats" in French, for the rocky shoreline that resembled the prows of ships.
